Hey. I'm currently filling out the Common App, and am wondering about a few things:

1)SAT scores - I heard that you should leave the self-reported SAT score section entirely blank and simply send the scores to the college through your collegeboard account. Is that correct? Will submitting the entire SAT/ACT section of the common app blank have no effect on your admissions?

2)Soccer Championships - I am on my school's soccer team and we have one a few city and state championships. Would that be something I should put in the additional information section of the common app?

3)Volunteer Proof - I listed in my EC section volunteer work I did at my Church the past four years. I was wondering if I needed to submit a signed document from the head of the organization I did the work with to prove that I did it?

4)Tutoring - last year I tutored a friend, and this year I am tutoring a family friend's son. Would this also be something I should put in the Additional Info section?

DNK, would love to find out, though :)

Put it in awards.

I don’t think a form is required, thus why it is so easy to pad this section of the application

Put with work experience.

one question on the same topic
If u dont have certificates or any thing to proof that u have done or you are doing
so is it gud to mention or not ???

1) This is not correct. You generally must send the official report, but you should also put the scores down on the app. If you didn’t have to do so, they wouldn’t ask for them.

Dark_Angel, it’s fine to put something down even without “proof.”

1) Do both, self report your scores and have them sent officially. If they didn’t want you to self report, they wouldn’t ask.

2) Depends on how much you personally contributed. Were you a benchwarmer or a significant part of winning?

3) Only if they ask later. Generally this is on the honor system. If you pad and get caught later they can rescind your admission.

4) Are you getting paid or volunteering. It’s either a job or an EC. How frequently/how many hours are you spending on this?

For DA: You don’t necessarily need an official document or certificate. Can someone at your school or organization attest to your participation if the college asks for verification? Kind of depends on what the activity is.

I would mention the soccer championships, even if you’re not a top player. It at least suggests the likely level of play and commitment. It certainly can’t hurt.

thanks for the help chedva and annoyingdad
i have many things like this but without proofs/certificates
my Ec’s are so less and i was facing da problem like this
btw i also played football with summer camp for almost 8 years ( only summer) and i last year i was da captain. ( shuld i mention both thing differently ( summer camp and football)
i have a certificate of attending summercamp but nothing for football …
and this year i went there as a volenteer ( shuld i mention this even ? ) no certificate for tht and i cant even ask them for a letter ( coz i shifted abroad )
plx help :)

You really don’t need proof of your activities. You just need to tell the truth about them. If they are suspicious of any of them (highly unlikely), most likely the first thing they would do is talk to your school.
