I'm a junior in high school right now. NYU is my top choice right now, but I am interested in both NYU and NYU-Poly. I really cannot decide whether to apply early decision to NYU or NYU-Poly. I'm visiting both in the spring.

I will major in computer science, so that's why I'm considering both. I've read that Poly is better with financial aid. Is it really? Also, is Poly pretty much like going to NYU? If I end up at Poly, I will end up taking classes at NYU anyways since I am interested in becoming a Psychiatrist.

Also, I know it's hard to say, but how much debt is too much at NYU?

From what I’ve heard NYU-Poly has much better financial aid since it’s a very new school and they’re trying to draw in students. Getting help from the rest of NYU can be very, very difficult.

NYU-Poly is not quite like going to school at the rest of NYU because Poly is in Brooklyn. The people over there have their own campus and probably only visit the main campus on weekends or when they have time. As a student on the main campus, I met some Poly kids at welcome week last year (which was NYU Poly’s first year) but I haven’t seen any since. I don’t know anyone from that school. The only reason I have ever visited the campus was because a friend of mine and I literally stumbled upon it by accident.

According to CAS’s list of majors and minors, they still offer a Computer Science major (more like three). If that’s true and if you’re intending to double-major with Psychology, you’re probably better off going to the main NYU campus.
