help me with these writing Q's please (explanation needed)

A possible first step (in developing) a nonsexist vocabulary (with which) to analyze the works (of) the nineteenth-century writer Elizabeth Gaskell would be (to stop) referring to her as “Mrs. Gaskell.”

the answer is no error.... why cant "in developing" 'be to develop?

I have gone (to) (only one) football game (after) I (graduated) from high school.

why is "after: wrong?

Even if there are other ways to phrase something, it won't matter if it's correct. However, I'm not sure if "to develop" would work in the sentence. Anyways, don't fix it if it ain't broken.

'After' should be 'since'.
