UF (in state) and University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Is UW-M worth the extra 100k considering that UF is also a good school and is... free?

He plans to go to medical school or study business. Would UW-M open a lot of doors that UF would not? Is there anywhere I can find job prospects from both schools?

Being able to get through undergrad, no matter where it is, debt free, is a huge deal if he ends up going to medical school. Considering if he goes to a state school for medical school, he'll still be over $100k in debt or if he goes to a private school, he'll be over $200k, staying debt free now is a huge breather later on.

In terms of actual impact on getting into medical school, there's no difference. Either place is fine and should present him with the opportunities necessary to build a good application.

Definitely UF... It's a great school and it's free. UW might be a little bit better, but it's definitely not worth 100K more. Plus, who would pick Wisconsin's climate over Florida's?

I know plenty of UF business graduates who got lucrative jobs in New York. So you aren't necessarily limited to the region of where your school is located.
