Will Wisconsin provide a sufficient advantage in the long run? Is it that much better? Thanks!

You would be stupid not to go to UF.

Based on your age, I believe you are asking about undergrad, and I don't know why you wouldn't go to UF. Do you want to work in Wisconsin or Chicago after graduation? If not, Wisconsin shouldn't even be an option over a free UF (and even if I wanted to work up there, I still choose UF (personally).

If you were talking about their MBA programs I would probably give you a different answer.

As far as I know UF business UG does not have its own placement office. UW has a very good one just for business undergrads. Does UF place outside Florida much?

it's for a friend in dilemna. i think that he actually wants to work in chicago after graduation.

For Chicago--UW and do well and there will be more financial aid after year 1.

UW does do well in Chicago. As does Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, and Notre Dame.

It is absolutely assinine to even speak about Wisconsin. 100K is a tremendous amount of money, and that burden would never go away. Florida is a teriffic option. Go to UF. If not you deserve what's coming to you in the horrendous payments you'll have to make.

If he is a D1 basketball or football player then go to UF.

On a serious note, I believe his financial situation is critical. If his parents don't mind dishing out 25 stacks a year then Wisconsin is a better program but if money is a big issue then florida is no brainer. The climate at both is also extremely different. I live in Minnesota and we just got 5 inches of snow last night whereas the april weather in florida is actually nice. Overall Florida for free is a much better value. If we were talking a top 5 b school then 25k would be a different story but I would still have to heavily weigh both options.

UW is not too shabby in football and basketball either.

Easy answer. UF for 2 years, transfer to Madison just in time for senior recruiting season. $50K over two years is more manageable and ROI for UW business grad is a little under 2 years. Personally the real strength of Wisconsin is specialized masters programs (not MBA). The 5yr BS/MS program in Accounting is among the best - ~100% graduates are placed by graduation. So is the acturial science program. Food for thought.
