UW Madison (full ride) vs University of Florida

I cannot decide which school I want to attend. I have a full ride to UW Madison and 18k scholarship per year to University of Florida (out of about 42,000 a year cost). I am planning on majoring in Biology and going to med school. I live in Wisconsin, but my grandparents live in Florida and my mom used to live there. If i go to florida, my mom will move there and I would get instate tuition after a year. I love the weather in Florida and I want to see some place new, but Madison is much cheaper and the safer route. Which school is better for biology? Campus? Out of state in florida? Social scene? Anything to help me make a decision (: I already know a lot about Madison but not as much about Florida so any opinions or experience would be helpful!

My d just choose Wisconsin over Florida even though florida was cheaper. The reason was because of the extensive use of online classes by Florida and the fact that florida has such a small percentage of OOS students. Didn’t want to be with huge groups of people that came with their high school friends. While that can be true at any state school - at least wisconsin has a higher percentage of OOS. Also, the sciences are supposed to be excellent at wisconsin.

Madtown.

You could go on vacation in FL and still come out ahead money-wise.

UW Mad for sure.
Save the money for medical school.

If you want to go pre-med then think about:

  1. The cheapest reasonable college so you/your parents can use the money for med school
  2. The college needs to prepare you for MCATs but still allow you to get a good GPA
  3. Access to volunteering opportunities (e.g., near a hospital)
  4. Success in graduates getting into med school
  5. Options if you don’t go to med school

UW. The money is not worth it for UF. End of story.
