I got accepted to both Northern Arizona University and Washington State University and I’m having trouble making a decision.
I’m planning on majoring in electrical engineering, and I’d have music as my alternative or as a minor.
I live about an hour north of Los Angeles, so either way I’d be out of state, but both schools are offering me the WUE discount.
They’re also both offering to cover about half of all the expenses with financial aid.
My GPA is about a 3.7 with AP and Honors classes and I got a 1370 on the new SAT.
I liked the campus and town of Flagstaff when I visited, and I am planning on visiting Pullman in late April.
So my main dilemma is that I like both schools pretty equally, but my parents are putting a lot of pressure on me to choose NAU due to its proximity, which would mean that it would cost less to travel and I could probably visit for longer.
I think that this is really important to consider, but academics and the school’s culture are really some of the most important factors for me personally.
I have no idea what my financial situation will be like in the next couple years, so I’m not going to count WSU out for the reasons my parents mentioned.
If WSU and Pullman really have more of what I’m looking for when I visit, then my decision is made.
The same goes if I don’t like it.
So all this considered, what advice or experience does anyone have about the academics (because rankings aren’t enough to decide for me) or the culture of both of these schools?
What does everyone think about which school I should choose personally?
Feel free to ask me more questions.
I would really appreciate some help.
Thanks!
