Hi, I am an International Student studying in the Indian System [ISC Board]. I have problems filling up the Common Application Secondary School Report [I know it is for Counselors, but I am just guiding them since they have no clue].

How do I fill up the Current Year Courses part? We have a single examination at the end of the year [Standardised Examination all over India] so it is not a Semester system.

For GPA, do I just enter my percentage? And does it become weighted or unweighted? What about the rank? Weighted or unweighted?

For the question - "In comparison with other college preparatory students at your school, the applicant’s course selection is:" What do I enter? Its the same for all Science Stream students all over India.

For the International SSR Supplement, they mentioned that I needed to submit my Lower Secondary Report. Does this include just my 10th Grade results or is 11th and 9th Grade included?

Am I on the right track in the first place?

Does the application deadline apply to the sending of transcripts and SSR as well? My school counselor is away and won't be back till Jan. Will they consider my circumstance?

God damn, it sucks to be an International :(

EDIT: Its "Help needed", sorry :)

Hi, i can perfectly understand.. I am from India too and my school principal had no clue as to wat he should do. for starters, common app help is a gr8 place. they reply to your queries immediately or real fast rather. regarding ur queries i will try to answer them as good as possible
-I know we have a single end year examination. u need to specify this in the international supplement. by semesters of trimesters, we can convert them into our quarterly and half yearly examinations.
-regarding GPA, again.. ur counselors report contains the question whether ur school uses GPA system. U can just enter no, if it doesnt follow it.
-though the course is same for science students everywhere, science is more demanding compared to streams like commerce, english, language etc. so u can mark that more demanding.
regarding the lower grade reports, try to submit an attested copy of ur 9th & 11th report card, and 10th mark sheet.
-if your school counselor is away u can ask ur school head/principal to fill up the SSR and associated documents.

Thanks for your reply neethu16! However, regarding some of the points you put across:

My school gives me only my final result of the year, though we do have semester examinations on non-board years.

Where is the option to enter no for GPA in the form? Can't find it.

Regarding the difficulty of the streams, it is very subjective isn't it. Some might say the commerce stream is tougher for them ; )

I will take your suggestion and post it in the Common App Forum, wherever the hell it is...

Oh. there arent any mid year examinations eh? :-o not even mid terms, unit tests lik tat?
and sorry... i was talking about the forms online. my counselor told me that there is a provision called 'profile' where questions are asked regarding our school, its systems etc.
lol yeah :) the difficulty is very subjective. but think of it this way. we do study more subjects(in terms of variety) right :) science, maths, languages comapred to commerce students whose subjects r more specific. so we are fully justified :D
Support Center follow this link for the common app help forum. in case your questions are not listed u can submit a ticket. they are very helpful :) u can even add it in ur query that deadlines are coming so reply early. :)

We do have Unit Tests and such but the transcripts that my school is sending consists only of the final result. Does your school do it differently?

Thanks a bunch for the link!

hmm yeah... my school actually comes under the state board of education. we have loads of unit tests, mid terms, quarterly half yearly examinations.
reg ur school; the transcript neednt be the school's prescribed format. u can ask ur counselor/head to make it so that it includes ur scores from important mid-terms. that would be informative

no prob. ur welcome :)

I would like to know that if I choose to submit transcripts online, how do I do it? SHOULD the transcripts be in word document? Should the logo of school be there?

@alam_375
its a tricky thing actually :( i still havent been able to do it properly. let me tell u what i did. with my counselor, i scanned the transcripts. i created corresponding word files containing the scanned pictures. using a pdf converter, i converted word to pdf and then my counselor uploaded them. but let me tell you, the resolution and clarity is compromised badly

Should the letter head be there ,as the counselor is the official and she could send it anyway.

In the offline version, the teacher evaluation, can the first part be hand-filled and second part be typed on computer? Since, the first page requires signatures.

Is there a specific format for the transcript? I study in cbse curriculum. Also , the uploaded transcripts should be in one file?
