Help. Need some tips

So it's a couple of days till the PSAT. And I realize that I am terrible at the sentence completions. I dont have time I remember lists of words. So please help me with some mind blowing advice :)

Also grammar. I think I'm improving. But I need a little bit more help? Any tips? How doyou check for misplaced modifiers? Etc..

And math. How can I remember direct and indirect variation? I can't remember and comprehend it? An easier way? Thanks :)

The best way to do well on the SC section is to remember words. However, if you are short on time, I recommend this advice from Barrons 2400.
Be level headed.

Remember that in a 5 question SC section,
1 and 2 = Easy
3 = Medium
4 and 5 = Hard
Therefore, if you really don’t know for questions 4 and 5, choose the most difficult vocab among the answer choices. This will increase the chance to get the problem correct significantly.

I’m going to sleep right now… so I’ll respond to questions 2 and 3 when I wake up…

When I do indirect variation, I remember that both sides involve multiplication. Direct variation is pretty much the same thing as proportions.

You are ill-prepared, young lad. You should have prepared earlier.

This is like a free point given by CB once you understand what you are supposed to look for. When you see a gerund in the modifier, you can safely assume that this is a question that involves a dangling modifier. Make sure the intended subject is following the modifier.

Ex.
Realizing the mistakes, we

This should come naturally after numerous practice tests. These kinds of problems shouldn’t take you more than 10 seconds.

Did you mean… direct and inverse proportions?

Direct proportion: y = kx
Remember: As x increases, y increases as well.

Inverse proportion: y = k/x
As x increases, y decreases.

It might be helpful to look at the graphs of the two.

Thanks Jeffery!
And to the person who said I’m ill-prepared. I agree. I did t prepare as much as I hope so

But aren’t you a sophomore? Besides the whole “tell me your score” conversation with friends/randy people, I don’t see why you should worry lol.

Yes I am. Except I want a high score. Currently I’m around 185. I just need 15 more so I’m a happy person. So far I achieved about 12 more points. Now I was 3 more. The end.
