I'm wait-listed for all of my classes: psyc 3 (9th in line), mcwp 40 (3rd in line), math 20a (4th in line). Is that bad?

Probably, but I have no idea.

Yes. Freshmen aren't advised to be waitlisting classes.

yea, try signing up for some other classes. the only chance i see you getting into is math 20a and maybe, maybe psych. people rarely drop from muir writing and the TA's hardly ever add extra ppl to the class.

hey chipsahuy hows my chance for chem6a im 1st on the waiting list for a pretty ****y time 7pm

when was ur registration time? I know for certain classes like Math 20a there was definitely open classes taught by staff. If you want to avoid bad teachers, then waitlisting is your only option, but other than that, you should really get into a few classes first. Like the psych class, 9 in line, pretty tough call, I'd totally drop it if I were you, you can easily do a language, or some random GE, thers so many random classes out there. As for calc, I dunno what to say, is there any ANY classes open? if not..you can't do anything about it. And you've signed up for 3 classes, go get urself another one

waitlisted for all your classes? for your very first quarter? man that's got to suck. i have good news though, young padiwan.

while being 3rd or 5th in line is bad for a heart transplant, being 3rd or 5th on a UCSD waitlist is not bad. you will most likely get in (i'd say you have more than a 90% chance). for one of my econ classes i was wailisted at 19? i forget. being crazy cool, the econ department couldn't waitlist me for long and i was accepted. all we want is to be loved and accepted, no? ^__^

here's my advice:

-you need to definately attend your waitlisted classes the first weeks. go as if you're already in the class.

-each department has their own waitlist procedure. for ex/ history and economics professors cannot pull you out of the waitlist. follow the dept's waitlist instructions.

-you need to rack up on UNITS. rack up on units so that you get early priority in class pickings in the future.

don't stress too much.
