okay, so I'm a junior this year and I'm looking seriously at colleges now, but I feel like I'm kind of riding the fence between being able to get admittance from some of the really rigorous schools, and not quite making the cut and I was hoping for an opinion on what my chances are so I'll know where to apply, and also just so I know my chances. So just some general info about me:

I'm from NJ, I'm white, I live in a really affluent area but my family isn't particularly wealthy (i live with just my mom and she doesn't get any child support so...) I'm an IB diploma candidate and I'm getting basically A-'s all around with the exceptions of an A+ in IB studio art. My unweighted GPA is like a 3.7 or something. I just took my first SAT and didn't study because I just wanted to see where I was at. I got a 630 math, a 650 critical reading and and a 660 writing (1940 total). Oh and I took the bio subject test freshman year and got a 630 and am planning on taking the french subject test as well. I know those aren't stellar scores but I think once I study I'll improve a ton, and I'm really good at memorization and stuff.

For extracurriculars I am a co-president/officer of Amnesty international club and the environmental club, I am the student liaison for the town environmental commission, I tutor underprivileged kids every week with Neighborhood House, and despite injuries I've been playing club soccer for like 9-10 years and have taken 3 years of krav maga. I also love to write, and while my academics aren't like incredible and perfect, I have a gift that is unshared with most or any of my classmates. I am also very good with my french and spent a month this past summer living with a family in France speaking only French.

As for recognition, I haven't had many awards, I won 2 Scholastic writing awards last year and am a member of the NSHSS (National Society of High School Scholars). I also was accepted by the John's Hopkins University to their Center for Talented Youth (CTY) program and spent 2 summers taking college level classes (fiction writing and philosophy)

Also, just as an example of where I'm looking at, I'd love to go to Swarthmore or Middlebury. I'm also looking at Hamilton, Lafayette, Connecticut College, Carnegie Mellon, Franklin and Marshall and Cornell. Oh and I'd basically die if i got into Brown. I'm not interested in the schools for their prestige I just want to go somewhere that challenges me and has lots of opportunity and where I'm surrounded by other really motivated students, and also where they have the classes I want to take, and these are what I've found. Anyways I know this was really long but if anyone could help me out, I would be so grateful!!:)
