Help on boarding schools

I'am applying to several boarding schools. My first choice is The Masters School. My SSAT scores weren't so good but I'm retaking in February. I have four honor classes. My grade point average Is horrible is in the 3.x. I'm only applying to two top schools Andover and Middlesex. I would also like to go to Cheshire or Berkshire. I'm a minority and As for the second marking period I'm getting all A's but the schools are going to only see my first report card. I go to a public magnet high school. I do a lot of community service I got 25 hours done. I've been doing karate for 3 years and i'm in the policy debate team and the math olympics. I would also like to go to westtown and Lowrence. Please give me tips and I'm Hispanic.

So... What's the question?

Whats the question and why are you taking it in February...that's gunna be a little to late for next yr.

A 3.X average isn't that bad, and being Hispanic (especially in America) doesn't exactly help...

Just curious, what did you get on your SSAT's?

Being Hispanic, especially in America, will help you in the admissions process. For schools interested in creating a racially and ethnically diverse student body a Hispanic applicant will be of great interest, because there will probably not be a lot of them. Hence the term "under represented minority". If you look at the numbers at most of the schools the Hispanic students are usually very low (at SPS only 6%).

Can you retake the SSAT in January? If you receive your grades by mid February, send them to the school, immediately. Work on your essays. Get recommendations from your extracurricular coaches/teachers. And most importantly, vet the information you receive on this site. There is a lot of useful info on here, but remember, these are your peers providing info and they have yet to be accepted into any school. My D does not like this board because she says it’s like Wikipedia, anyone can provide information and it may not be accurate.

Good point....I always like if people post a source (web link, state something is personal experience, etc) so that information can be verified.

Some schools WILL accept the February SSAT score--you should call each admission office and ask.

I go to Masters if you want to PM me with any questions, since you said that seems to be your first choice.

is 25 hours a lot of community service?
