Is anyone also facing the same dilemna I am in? I am in the midst of working on my application and I am just stumped on how to write my essay. I am applying to multiple schools but I do not know how to write it so that it specifically appeals to each college. I do not want to sound too generic but also not biased towards a certain college only. I was hoping we could submit personalized essays to each individual school but apparently we are uploading the same one for all schools. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions that would help in overcoming this dilemna?

I think this is the one that’s supposed to be generic, so cater it to why you want to transfer? I think specific schools have supplements that you can write for each of them.

Not all schools have supplements that ask why you want to attend.

I know that the CA warns that you should send the same essay to all schools. Here’s my take: the CA is supposed to be assisting schools and applicants, not setting up more barriers; the CA is not doing it’s job well with transfers because not all schools ask a ‘Why College X’ in their supplement.; I have never heard of any problem with people using different essays, for either fr or transfer admissions.

Here is what I recommend:

For schools with a supplement that asks why you want to attend: a CA general essay that is general and doesn’t go into specifics about schools.

For schools that don’t have a supplement that asks why you want to attend: individualized CA general essays that speak about the reasons that specific school is right for you.

Once you send your application to 1 school, you can make alternate versions of the CA, including different essays:

The final decision is with the applicant.

Did not know that existed! Thanks for pointing that out.
