I am having trouble writing the 150 word introduce yourself to penn answer on the Penn supplement....can someone please take a look at it if i PM it to them? or just some general advice on how to approach these types of questions....should i go for creative or a straightforward answer?

Elite colleges love creative essays. A straightforward answer, especially in only 150 words, will probably just end up sounding exactly the same as the majority of the other applicants. I’ve read my peers’ essays (lots of ivy-caliber peers at my school), and surprisingly, most of them had essays that sounded extremely boring and cliche.

This essay is an optional essay. In other words, if you can’t write something that adds to your package, don’t bother. Now, my essay wasn’t extremely unique. However, it followed a theme and wasn’t like, “I’m x, y, and z.” Be creative, memorable, and crisp. Don’t lose substance by trying to do stylistic and creative things. You want to distinguish yourself in a genuine manner, so think about that when you write. Most importantly, be yourself! Don’t try to force something so that you lose your voice.
