Help on picking classes

<p>So, I am switching my major from Psychology to Philosophy, mainly because it's easy. I'm trying to get to Med school later on if that matters. I'm currently a Senior in HS if that matters also.</p>

<p>How come UCSD and UCB don't have my courses? I don't get it. I'm trying to aim for SD, LA and Cal, but this problem is huge. What am I going to do? I just don't understand how assist works. ahh!

<p>Again, I don't understand why UCSD displays nothing. Cal seems to have a little, but not much. Someone please help me =(</p>

<p>It looks like the problem is not with Cal/UCSD/UCLA, but that Deanza College doesn’t have your classes. The articulation agreements for all three schools say exactly what you need to do to fulfill your lower-division requirements for the major. However if you can’t fulfill the major pre-req at Deanza, you’ll need to find a different school that offers the class or do your IGETC, transfer, and then take the missing courses at the UC.</p>

<p>for UCB there are 3 phil prereqs: intro to logic, modern phil, ancient phil. All three are offered at CCSF, but good luck finding them elsewhere. </p>

<p>You’re a senior in hs. How do you know that philosophy is easier than psychology? Philosophy has one of the lowest GPAs at UCB. Psychology will be more practical for med school, although philosophy majors score second highest after math majors on the GREs (not sure about the MCATs).</p>

<p>BTW phil is a face melter of a major @ UCB as far as humanities/social sciences go. So if you switched because “it’s easy” you got another thing coming. easier to get into perhaps</p>

<p>I would advise you become a psych major. at least its closer to what you are trying to do. Medschool with a phil degree? err um good luck on MCATs</p>

<p>I don’t have any real experience in the subject, but I had always heard that philosophy was more difficult than psychology too.</p>

<p>@ LiveTheLimit: Right now I’m a psych major doubling in philosophy. I can tell you with absolute certainty that philosophy is MUCH more difficult than psychology because of how dense the reading material is and the abstract/conceptual nature of the subject. The analysis you’ll be doing in phil is also more intense than in psych. This is, of course, my opinion, but I can pretty much tell you that if you want an “easier” major so that you can focus on med school prereqs, psych is the way to go.</p>

<p>Btw the phil courses that articulate are only offered at like 7 of the 66 California community colleges lol. </p>

<p>I was recently admitted to Berkeley with 0/3 of the prereqs done for philosophy. (2 phil classes done at my CCC though with A’s). Don’t sweat it if your prereqs aren’t offered. Just take a couple phil classes and do well to demonstrate competence and interest in the major.</p>
