Hey fellas,
I'm struggling with the time on the reading section. There is just no way in hell I can finish in 35 minutes! I'm in desperate need of help.

How do you guys take the reading test? Do you look at the questions first? Do you try to understand the passage?

I actually read the whole passage and answered all the questions after… When I took the test in April, I finished with about 6 minutes to spare. This was only possible because I blazed through the test.

It depends on the person. I usually try to scan the questions QUICKLY just to get a feel of what I should be looking for. Then I read the passage as quickly as I can. If I don’t understand something, I skip it until later (it may not be important). I struggle with time, too. The key is to take a lot of practice tests. This seems to be the best advise you can give for the ACT: PRACTICE! Time yourself, and learn to pace yourself. Try to get everything done in about 8min (per passage). It’s tough, and it’s tiring, but with practice, you can make life a little easier.

Also, you should annotate when possible. You don’t have to write notes; I usually just underline and circle things that seem important to me.
I also find it easier to follow the words with your pencil (it kind of helps with speed).
