I got a three day school suspension for cheating in my school and my GC promises that he wouldn't do anything to hurt my future. But my principal did say that my suspension is going to be on my record. Many of the seniors in my school told me that suspensions don't appear on your transcript and that colleges most rarely check your discipline record, especially if you get good grades. I'm most definitely going to own up to my decisions but I was just wondering. If you check no on your common apps about getting suspensions what are the chances that the colleges would figure out?

BE HONEST! They WILL figure it out.

You are entitled to see your own transcript. Ask to see it (or a copy) so you know for sure exactly what it says.
You should explain the suspension. Take responsibility for your actions, and be as positive as possible about what you learned from the experience.
Ask your GC how he will treat the suspension in his recommendation - will he say you have learned form the experience?
Are you doing something extra because of it - i.e. are you volunteering, getting tutoring, avoiding other cheaters, etc? Why are you a different person now? Are you trying to earn back the respect of the teacher who caught you?

But if you lie on your application, you will reinforce the bad image of a dishonest, not-to-be-trusted person.

What is your GPA and ACT score?
