I have been doing Tae-Kwon-Do ever since in was 7 year old, and I’m a black belt. I had to quit the program due to a back injury this past week. My question is:
1.Can I still say that I did Tae-Kwon-Do in high school, and will it still look good if I can’t do it in my senior year?
2. On college application does it still count as a sport if I have done it outside of school?
3. Should I say that I did varsity(there really is no distinction in this Tae-Kwon-Do program)
4. Do you think it would help getting into schools like GT, or Duke?
Being a black belt is a nice accomplishment. It should certainly be listed as an EC for the years you did the sport. It will be a good EC for the top schools but I don’t think that it would get you into a school you are not otherwise academically qualified for.
Don’t say you did varsity, since that does not exist – just say you are a Black Belt. Ex. Tae-Kwon-Do (9-11) Black Belt
And if you miss Tae-Kwon-Do, perhaps there is a way you can still be involved senior year (my S’s friend was a black belt in karate and when he got injured he ended up helping teach some kid’s classes).
