hey jiniyz,
you proposed a interesting concept. what happens if we don't make it after this year? if we stayed another year, how would we go with raising our stats without breaking any restrictions or anything?

for instance, let's say i finish TAP and all 60 units, but have a 3.5 GPA and get rejected from UCLA. if i stay another year, obviously i cant do 30 units or else i'll go over 90 units and etc. so if i did 3 random easy classes or something, obviously my GPA would be able to increase to a 3.8 at least. however, would that guarantee me admission or would i get rejected once more?

i mean, if i dont make it to UCLA after this one year, would i be better off with accepting the reality that I wont be going to UCLA and just resort to UCI or UCD?

If all of your units are from a community college then it isn't a problem and there is no limit cap, so if all your units are from skyline you'd be fine to keep going another year. But if you transferred to Skyline from a 4 year school then you would have to bite the bullet and go to Davis or SD

Hey I have a question- you guys are applying to UCLA right?

This is my schedule:

Major:Cinema Production/Theater

AP Credits: Spanish language and Spanish literature(don't know how much credits I will get from them, i think 12 total from both classes)

Fall:
Art Histoy-gothic(3 units)
English 101(3 units)
Honors Psychology(3 units)
Beginning acting(3 units)
Biology 107(4 units)

and i'm trying to get calculus(5 units)

I only have one honors class and i hear that alot of honor classes helps you with the admission. I couldn't get anymore because of the schedule. what can i do?

also which other classes could i take to try and finish by next spring.

yeah, i'm applying to UCLA, UCB, UCSD, UCI, UCD, and just for the hell of it - Columbia, Cornell, Georgetown, and NYU (aim high, right?). But UCLA is my number 1 choice.

how long are you planning on staying in cc for? if you are planning on doing a one year plan, you're going to have to do what i am doing - do 4/5 of the honors courses in one semester in order to qualify for TAP.

from my understanding, honor courses are necessary if you want to qualify for TAP/TAG since they allow you to be in your cc's respective honors program. However, you might want to check with your school to see if it has TAP with UCLA because i dont see any use of doing honor courses if your school doesnt have an agreement.

yeah they do have the TAP program but how does it work?

you have to take honors classes right? they have only five honors classes each semester some of them have prerequesites.
there's something about an honors contract that the teacher signs.
do you know about that?

well i think it differs between each school. for my community college, in order to be tap-certified, you have to finish 5 honors classes with a 3.25+ GPA. and each semester, they provide a different amount of honor classes. like in the fall, there are about 13ish honor classes available at my cc. since i'm applying a year early, i'm gonna do 4 honor courses to get 4/5 out of the way since in the spring, many of the other prereqs for my major are not available at my cc but rather at another in the same district AND are only available in the spring. therefore, so i dont have to commute like crazy everyday, i'll only have to take one honors class in the spring and be fully tap certified.

I think our honors program works like that too (fullerton college)
15units of honors classes . (basically 5)
I am taking 2/5 in fall and rest (3) in spring .
good luck to all you one-year-plan guys !!
