Well guys, happy new year to everyone… Apps have been sent so I think now we should relax and enjoy the last semester of high school. However, I want to ask you about something… I hope you can help me…

I was accepted to Babson College, but I applied to other universities too. One of the universities I also applied is McCombs at UT Austin. Considering my stats, essays and recommendations I am pretty sure I will be accepted. If my supposition it’s true and I am accepted; what do you recommend me: Babson College or McCombs? Which do you think is better school? Graduated from which I would have a better job?

Consider: I am undecided about my major( but of course is related with business)
I am from Chihuahua, Mexico ( So Austin is closer to my city)
Didn’t ask for financial aid
Have some friends at UT austin

Thank you guys, I will chance/give an opinion to whoever needs it.

I was stuck between the two as well but Babson was def a better fit for me. While UT w/ McCombs is REALLY good, the size and the structure just didn’t work for what I was trying to do. I wanted to dive right into business starting my freshman year and Babson offered me the hands-on learning and strong community environment that I wanted. While I know I would have liked Austin and UT, I just couldn’t see myself at a school that large. So, I guess it is really about preference, but Babson’s unique approach to business and entrepreneurship is def. something to be explored.

nce again I think that is a hard call. No matter where you go you will have to hustle to get your dream job, but in terms of the schools and their positions Babson def. has some pull in the New England area. I know that their stats for student job placements is around the mid 90% of the graduating class 6 months after graduation. They have a strong student career center and because of the smaller size of the community networking and meeting people is something that can easily be done.

Yeah i already checked both McCombs and Babson’s salaries after graduation and they are almost the same, i think it variates on how many relationships you made in college … i think the fact that my city (Chihuahua,Mexico) is really close to Austin will make choose one or perhaps the fact that i love parties and that stuff… how’s babson’s social life?

Babson has an active social scene both on and off campus.

On-campus there is a pub that is open to the entire school community. There is pool tables, video games, and food and drinks (21+ for beer and wine). Different organizations host “pub nights” and Wednesdays and Thursdays for charity fund raising and on Fridays they usually have trivia nights and live band performances. Those normally get a turn out during the week. Babson also hosts Knight Parties (which is like a campus wide themed dance party) once a month with a beer garden and a dj. And of course there are the regular dorm and frat parties. There is always atleast one major event going on-campus that you can go to and have a good time.

As for off-campus…there is a weekend shuttle that takes students into Boston. Lots of people take advantage of that on Fridays and Saturdays to go out and shop, go to the movies, eat out, and party. The shuttle runs regularly from 12pm to 2am. You can also find out what is going on at other schools in the area and party there as well.

Considering you’re from Mexico, you’d probably be very comfortable at Babson since there is a large percentage of international students, and I think the second largest country represented after China is Mexico… I am from Miami and it is great to be able to speak Spanish with my friends and hear many languages being spoken all around me. The international aspect of Babson is definitely what I love most about it, and my friends from Mexico would definitely agree! I actually have a friend from Chihuahua who goes to Tech de Monterrey and did her semester abroad at Babson… she loved it as well! Feel free to send me a PM if you have other questions about being an international student / spanish speaker :). Good luck with your decision!
