Help out a mediocre student :(

I live in NJ and want to apply to Rutgers. My parents have a high income, but I have 3 brothers and sisters so Rutgers is what I can afford.I will major in computer science, something that I enjoy doing and have a lot of interest in.

I'm scared of not being accepted, because if i don't get in i'll have to go to community college (NOT saying that's a bad thing, just wanna get out of the house and a lot of my friends are going to Rutgers, too).

I have a 3.2 GPA unweighted... yeah I know. Took 4 APs if senior year is included.
SAT is pretty good. M: 740 CR: 700 W:710 Overall a 2150

I was capt. for varsity tennis and cross country.
fbla
key club
ski club
taught tennis and lifeguarded
75~ community service hours
took comp sci classes at my community college

Do i have a good shot? it's really all i can afford and get into. really nervous. thanks a lot!

Can anyone help me? Will chance back.

I think you have a pretty good chance at being accepted. If you are good at math around the pre-calc level, I would take the math II subject test.

Your SATs are okay. Doesn’t NJ have any other affordable colleges as a back up?

Your GPA is the only thing holding you back, and even that isn’t so terrible by Rutgers standards (as long as your weighted GPA is upwards of 3.5). Your SAT scores are very much above average for Rutgers. Also, Rutgers is a pretty inclusive university when it comes to admissions. All things considered, I think you have a very good shot at Rutgers. I would honestly be a little surprised if you got rejected.

There are other schools in NJ like TCNJ that you should also apply to. I think you have a pretty good shot at Rutgers but I have friends who went there and transfered out. They didn’t enjoy th atmosphere.

You should have back up…a financial safety.

oh yeah i took Math II and got a 760. Looking around NJIT might actually be a better chance than rutgers because they care more about SATs than GPA (go figure). TCNJ and Kean aren’t strong in comp sci, but Kean is so god damn cheap!

What do you guys think?
