I’m torn between attending Penn State and Pitt. The little city of Oakland surrounding Pitt seems really fun and cool compared to Penn State which is a town setting and is essentially in the middle of nowhere. I’ve lived in a small town my whole life and kind of want to step out of my comfort zone and live in a small city. I also want to major in marketing. Does anyone know which school has a better marketing/business program? I also intend on having several jobs and internships while in college, which I think I’ll have better luck with in a city like Pittsburgh since there are so many companies and industries headquartered and/or located there. I also want to join a sorority, so if anyone knows details about greek life and can compare both schools, that’d be great! I’m not a huge sports fan so that isn’t really a huge decision factor for me. And I believe the party/social scene at both schools is great, and I think Oakland will be more of a fun, vibrant area than State College. If anyone can offer any advice I’d appreciate it so much!!! Thank you!!
I’m in high school and have no idea of college life but last year I was in Kingston, PA (in the middle of nowhere) and now I live in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh is definitely my favorite city so far. A lot of young people and nice places to hang out. And there’s cmu right next to Pitt so you may be able to borrow some resources from there. I’d recommend Pitt if you’re considering about location.
State College is a great college town and overall I’d say Smeal is better than Pitt’s College of Business, BUT you sound like you really like Pitt better and that Pitt is a better fit, so I’d say to go with Pitt, if both cost about the same.
