Help Please, mom won't sign

And you have to keep in mind that average Iranian income, per MONTH, in urban centers, is $500 to 600. An annual income of $10,000 would make OP’s dad rich and a gift of$2,000 would be considered extremely generous.

^^^

Wow…if that’s true, and the dad first agreed to paying $15k per year, then either dad is wealthy and could pay, or he never even had the means to pay $15k per year. Either way, I’m just surprised that this family ever believed that he’d fork over $60k for this child’s education (and there’s another child coming along), when he never gave a penny during the past 14 or so years.

^Yup, those are accurate numbers, and not counting the rural areas either (which are poorer).
So, it was pure wishful thinking to believe the dad would be willing to pay after 14 years without paying anything and would be able to in the first place… The daughter probably really, really wanted to believe her father “recognized” her finally and was making it up to her for abandonning her and her mom. Believing the dad a liar on top of everything was probably too painful.
But it wasn’t logical and probably, completely impossible.
(OP should read Sarah Dessen’s The Moon and More, although the mystery of why Emaline won’t be attending Columbia in the Fall will probably seem quite obvious to her.)
I hope the OP is still reading and won’t bankrupt her entire family, but will post again so we can help her find schools to apply to.

I think the OP is gone!

@MYOS1634 The OP is male.

Why do you think that? They have no other posts…

oops. But the rest is accurate :stuck_out_tongue:
