Parents forcing me to leave the house for UCSC (won’t let me attend a cc),
what are some good in/out-of-state colleges with a business entrepreneurship/economics major that I could get into?
(maybe you could label them for me to as a safety or reach etc.) I personally was thinking TCU (but that may be a reach), CU Boulder, need help though
GPA:
weighted 10-12: 3.85
Cumulative w: 3.66

SAT: math- 600 reading: 540 writing: 580
I have a decent/okay amount of EC’s and was a lifeguard for two summers.
I also plan to get really good grades at Santa Cruz
What can your family afford?
UCSC is a great school and you would be very fortunately locate for connections and internships in the SV. UCs are more academic than having business degrees. But it doesn’t mean you can’t work in business and pay attention to the kinds of skills that are desirable and make sure you get them. That’s what being a self starter is all about. So I would say don’t be in too big a rush to get out of there. You can’t transfer instate until after sophomore year anyway.
Are you going to do the business mgmt economics major? The premajor coursework will give you a very good foundation if you do transfer, but I bet you will find that you don’t need to. Pay attention to what upper div students that are successfully getting internships are doing.
Pictured on the home page for the dept is:
Paul Simpson (B.A., business management economics, '02), entrepreneur, owner of SageTel International, a technological consulting firm.
Pay attention to the strengths UCSC has in CS and tech (it was one of the 3 my daughter applied to) to take full advantage. I’m just saying don’t be short sighted here. As a transfer you likely won’t get much if any aid.
Sure TCU seems reachable but I don’t know if it is harder to get into the undergrad business school.
