<p>I'm currently taking AP Calc AB at school. I want to take the BC AP test at the end of the year. How much harder is it? Do I have to self-study a LOT more? Also... my teacher right now really sucks -___________- so I don't know if i'll even be able to finish the AB material in class by the end of the year. What should I do? If i take BC, which book will help cover all the material needed to get a 5 on the BC exam? </p>

<p>My AB teacher is great, but the AB curriculum at our school is very slow. I have already jumped ahead and learned the three basic concepts of AB (deriviative, limit, and intergration). </p>
<p>Currently, I have Princeton Review. What Princeton Review's book does is that it combines the two tests together into one book.</p>
<p>What I plan to do is to read and learn all the chapters (of PR and my textbook), and do the exercises of every page, and take both the AB and BC practice tests. This should help you (and prep you!) for BC, as well as making you look like a genious in your AB class. </p>
<p>Like andrea said, you also have to be good in math, and be able to have the work habit of self-studying and jumping ahead. Calc C does have some hard parts, so plan for it. Don't forget your resources (parents, friends, etc.).</p>
<p>Don't retake the AP tests. I'm guessing you won't have time for massive review. Focus on this year's curriculum.</p>
<p>I see, and what if one was in the same situation, yet the class was replaced by Algebra II? I have Schaum's Outline of Beginning Calculus; assuming I have knowledge up to Calculus albeit a few trig functions, would taking a BC Test at the end of the year be recommended? Given, there will be Pre-Calculus between now and the AP Test.</p>
<p>I guess that you (ChaosTheory) should probably take the BC Test if you are confident in the Calc knowledge you know. To practice, either buy a prep book, or register at AP Central and try the old FR from previous years sometime in March or April.</p>

<p>Plus, even if you don't get all of the BC stuff, you can try it and still get an AB sub-score.
The BC and AB scores are usually 1 grade apart, but I know that it's possible to get a 4 for a sub score and get a 2 overall. So I'd take the test. It can only help you if you ace it, and it probably wouldn't bring you down if you didn't.</p>
