I have recently been informed that my test scores were reported on my transcripts and sent to a test-optional college. I do not believe that my test scores reflect my academic capabilities. What should I do? I won't be able to get a corrected transcript until next week since my high school is closed during break, and the college's deadline was yesterday (Jan. 1st).

The first thing to do is to call the college and tell them your case.
You have to try calling, I once worked in the college general office. I can tell you, sometime there are staffs there, but they just don’t listen the calls)

If you are luck, you might find someone, if not try to write an letter about your case and put it in the post box of the general office. Normally, staffs will collect the letters in the morning and “MARK ITS RECEIVE DAY” as the previous day.

In such case, it might help you letting them know you inform your problem “BEFORE THE DEADLINE”.

Thanks, I will try calling right when the college opens, however, would notifying them immediately cause them to look at my scores sooner?

I could be wrong but I do not believe they’ll consider scores at all if they are not official.

I believe Pancaked is correct. Yes, they will see the scores, but that doesn’t mean they will take them into consideration, because it is not an official score report. They are more likely to assume you chose not to report them, and understand that you have no control over whether you school sends them or not.

That’s good to hear because the scores weren’t even my highest. Should I still call, or would that be a bad idea, I don’t want them to start forming negative conclusions about me before they have reviewed my application completely.

Bump Bump…

Was there a place on the app where you checked a box whether you wanted them to consider your scores or not? I thought most of the test optional schools did that. If you checked no then it doesn’t matter that they have your scores, they won’t consider them.

From Pitzer’s supplement:

"Pitzer’s admission policy for first-year students provides applicants with greater flexibility in submitting application materials that accurately reflect their diverse academic abilities and potentials. Pitzer will exempt applicants from submitting standardized test scores (i.e., ACT or SAT) if:
- You are graduating in the top 10% of your class, AND/OR
- You have an unweighted cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher in academic subjects (i.e., courses in the humanities, mathematics, sciences, and social sciences)."

“NOTE: You may still submit exams for evaluation by also checking one or more of the boxes in the non-exempt section.”

I didn’t check any of the boxes in the non-exempt section, but I don’t want them to think that I am submitting my scores for evaluation by having them on the transcript.
Sorry, I’m just extremely paranoid about college apps.
