I have 3 AP exams I’m supposed to be taking this year - AP Chem, AP Psych, and AP US History.
They are next week on Monday and Friday, but I’ll be leaving the country for a family emergency on Sunday and won’t be back in time to take any exams. Even though I’m a little happy because I get to skip the AP Chem exam this year, I still am required to take it; therefore, I will be taking all 3 AP exams in 2019.
This leads me to my question: How do I retain all the information I just learned? I’m fine on Psychology, and eh on APUSH, but I’m screwed on Chemistry. Is there a way I can self-study it - just learn it all over again? I honestly don’t know much anyway, but I have a whole year now to prep and prep and prep.
I don’t think you should learn everything all over again (that would just be a waste of time), but reading a chapter a week or doing practice tests once a month should do the trick (place more emphasis on chem). You also have to consider the courses you will be taking in 2019, so make a study plan in the summer after considering all of that. A helpful note: try asking your AP teachers for help on how to remember the material (they know it better than I do!)
@chanoo2003 I seriously have no knowledge of AP Chemistry. My teacher was terrible and I was barely in school, because I kept traveling. Would reading the textbook and do practice tests still suffice? I don’t care for a 4 or 5, I just need to pass, haha.
I think my advice would be enough to get at least a 3 on the AP exam. Also, try looking up some self-studying/general studying tips on CC or other forums / quick google searches. Better resource than me.
At least try to ask your chem teacher this year if you can borrow a textbook over the summer or something.
Some general tips: try doing all the released FRQs from previous exams as part of your study plan. Take as many practice tests with the same time constraints as possible.
