Well I`m sure I can get lots of responses, considering all of the over-achievers who take 5 APs in class and then self-study another 5. ;)

Next year and senior year I want to self-study some APs, but my questions is: Which ones should I self-study vs. which ones should I take in class? I
m wanting to take APUSH, in class, but I don
t know if I should just self-study it and focus on taking some AP sciences in class.

So which are viable ones to self-study or take in class?

-APUSH
-AP English Lit
-AP Biochem
-AP Environmental (I was thinking of self-studying this and taking AP Biochem in class)
-AP Psych (I might be able to take over the summer)

That
s pretty much it. I
d do AP Chem but have yet to take regular Chem. I was thinking of taking Honors Chem and Physics next year and then taking AP Chem and Physics senior year. Is this OK? Can I even simultaneously take Chem and Physics at the same time?

Also: Good tips for self-studying? How do I make sure I
m covering everything? Buy some review books, I guess, but I feel like my WHAP review book doesn
t cover everything we cover in class. Buy textbooks too, right?

My school is, like, the only school that has it…some of my friend
s are taking it this year. Basically, one day, they do Biology, the next day, they do Chemistry, then the next day, Bio, etc. I don
t know…the only pre-requisite is you have to have Algebra 2 beforehand.

That actually sounds pretty cool if you’re interested in science or want to go into the medical field. I would definitely take that one in class, as well as APUSH and AP Lit. APES and AP Psych can be self-studied.

Yeah I pretty much agree with the last poster. AP Psych is a pretty easy test and so is AP Environmental. My teachers for APES last year were pretty bad, so I basically just self studied for a few weeks before the test and somehow managed to pull off a 5. I would take all the other classes in school though.

Sciences should be in class. APES is the only exception.
I self studied AP Psych last year 30 hrs before the test and got a 5. I’m not an overachiever at all, but I really like Psych.
I think you could also self study Stat. My teacher has his degree in computer science and the stat teacher quit before the summertime, so he taught himself statistics over the summer so that my school would have a teacher. This was about a decade ago, but I think it turned out all right

I’d take sciences in class if possible and self APUSH. AP histories are more self-able than sciences (I would know ).

AP Bio you could possibly do by yourself and AP chem if you have a supportive school. For physics B, I think a teacher is good; for Physics C, if you’ve done calc and can think well, selfing is possible.

AP Psych is an easy self study, as is AP Environmental. I would advise against self studying Lit unless you really, really like english or want to get credit.
