The first time I took the SAT in October, I got a 1460 (710 Reading, 750 Math). I just got the results back from the December SAT and now my score is 1450 (680 Reading, 770 Math). If I choose to send my second SAT score, colleges will superscore it and raise it to a 1480. However, I’m wondering if colleges would look at my 680 reading score and question me? I’m worried that it would negatively affect my chances of getting into Ivy League schools. So should I still submit the second SAT score?
It really depends on which colleges you’re looking at. Keep in mind that not all schools superscore, so you might be better off only sending your Oct score since that’s higher.
Thanks! All the schools I’m applying to superscore. So should I send both? I’m just concerned that admissions officers might raise an eyebrow at my lower reading score.
If your schools superscore, they probably will just look at the top scores and completely disregard other scores (but make sure to check each school’s policy). Keep in mind that each school will receive thousands of applicants and if they superscore, they most likely wouldn’t flag you for a slightly lower section score.
