<p>Hey, I moved to a different school after sophomore year and while my teachers know me in terms of academics & extra curriculars...they don't know me as a person per se. So, I got my best friend to write me a recommendation... Will Stanford accept the recommendation of a peer? She was able to offer a lot of insights & actually has better grammar than the teachers... Will they even read it? And will they take it seriously? Please let me know!</p>

<p>well, it could go to either extreme. you'll either standout because you took a completely different approach or.. they'll disregard you completely.
i wouldnt really know though, you should try to contact the admissions office.
