Help! Staying hopeful!

^^^^ Listen to what happymomof1 said. You have had time to be sad and disappointed, but now is the time to see what else is available. This is just a somewhat different path than you had planned, but it can all lead to the future you want.

You can see what schools are offering rolling admissions, or take a closer look at your community college; it may just surprise you. Teachers are there because they love to teach, the classes are smaller than a big U, and there is an amazing breadth and variety to the student body. We go to some the the theater and musical performances of our local CC, and I am always impressed by the talent of the students. There will be clubs to join, concerts to attend, and other social outlets. Some CC’s also have dorms or student apartments.

when do we find out about waitlists in general?

i have since applied to an additional college so hopefully i’ll get lucky…

UPDATE:
I HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED TO WEST CHESTER UNIVERSITY!!!
they called my dad yesterday to tell him my card idea was one of the most creative things they’ve seen and I would be admitted.

today i found out when i received the card i made with a “check” under “admission to WCUPA” with a note “accept packet to follow” :D:D:D

Nice story. Good for you!

Yeaahhh!! Congratulations, Paramore! Now stop thinking of yourself as a ‘nothing special student’; obviously you have something about you that is so thoughtful and creative that they decided you needed to be at that school. I hope you have an absolutely wonderful time in college, and learn lots!

Holy S*** you got lucky. Nice idea with the card. Good luck in college.

Wow, this is such an inspiring story. Congratulations; I’m so happy for you! You totally deserve it! :D

paramore, congratulations to you and have a great time at WCU!! You may think you’re “nothing special” but they obviously disagree!

I’m so glad you trusted your instincts, kept going despite discouraging messages from people around you (thanks alot, guidance counsellor! Oh, and 2fast4you – great post, fantastically helpful.) The phrase “thinking outside the box” is overused, but SO true in your case. You jumped through all the usual hoops – applications, letters, transcripts, blah blah – and then you found the perfect way to tell them you’re exactly what they’re looking for!
