Help! Storage ideas for the summer?

I imagine other people have the same predicament: home too far from college to take all the stuff home every summer.

Does anyone at Penn use local storage facilities to store all the dorm stuff until Fall? Names and numbers or URL, please.
How about summer-vacated rooms in apartments? Does that work out to be secure?

Thanks in advance.

Or store where they will live next year? Apartment, fraternity?

1) Store it where you're living next year if at all possible.
2) CollegeBoxes and Boxmydorm are popular, but rather expensive. They do pick up and deliver directly to and from your room, which is nice.
3) I've used the storage units at 55th and Sansom (which is really only a 2 minute drive from campus), and they were great. The prices are reasonable for the space you get, and if you split a storage unit with a few friends it comes out pretty fair. There's a U-Haul renter/dealer nearby, or you can use your own car to move to/from campus. WebSelfStorage: Choose your room
4) If someone's selling space in an apartment or frat house for storage, I'd be VERY careful. Make sure it's someone you know well, and make sure they're taking the care to protect it. I know too many people who have lost things that way.

Great advice and info from all. Mattwonder--thanks for the time you put into the details.
