I have signed up for a total of 16 units (9 enrolled, 7 waitlisted). I tried to add another 3 units class but telebears keep telling me "You are unable to add any more courses because your schedule is at or above the maximum units allowed by your college or school." I'm in the college of engineering and I am pretty sure the maximum units is more than 19. Does anyone have a clue?

New unit limit for Phase 2 is 16 units. Can you switch your classes around so you have 15 or less units because than you can add another class to make it above the 16 unit max.

Thanks calbear2012!

I was able to have a maximum unit of 17 in my phase II, but that’s not really a big deal.

calbear 2010, flower
how do you switch around your classes to ensure that you can sign up for another class?

truucharms, i think what they mean is you can play around with the units by signing up for one class before another to make the most out of your units. for example, if you already had 10 units and wanted to sign up for a 4 unit class, a 2 unit class, and a 1 unit class, you could first add the 4 unit, then 1 unit to make 15 (under the 16 limit), and then add the 2 unit class last, bringing the total to 17 units. however, if you had added the 4 unit, then 2 unit, you would already be at 16 which is the max, so you wouldn’t be able to add the 1 unit class. you just have to figure out how to arrange them in the correct order.

Exactly^^ I did this and was able to enroll/waitlist 19 units. Yay for being a unit whore!

This new policy is one of the favorite topics to complain about for quite a few people, I think. I guess rightfully so.

It is a pain to work with, but I understand the rationale behind it - some people sign up for 23 or something units to pick and choose between the classes when the semester begins. This is totally unfair if you don’t plan on taking those courses… however, this policy screws over people who are waitlisted in courses - I know several people who were waitlisted in all their Phase I courses, with the 16 unit cap, they can’t even sign up for backup classes in case they don’t get into any of their waitlisted courses, which leaves them in an even worse situation when the deadlines come up during the semester. I’d understand and even appreciate this policy if it were to count only for courses you are actually enrolled in and not any waitlisted courses. It would just make a lot more sense…
