I am having a hard time choosing between Simon Fraser University and University of British Columbia. Let me tell you my plans first. I plan to attend a prestigious law school in the States right after my undergrad. Does it matter whether I choose SFU or UBC? I am going to be in the Faculty of Arts or Business. Does anybody know which school has a better art faculty or business faculty. I know UBC is well-known for its medicine and it has international rep. but I have a feeling that the art faculty of SFU is better.

PLEASE HELP ME GUYS!! I'M HAVING A HARD TIME CHOOSING ONE OF THE TWO AND IT's KILLING ME!!

eh ive only heard of UBC and it is one of the top schools in canada. is sfu in canada? can it really compete? i think UBC would be better if u were going to grad school in the state

UBC is undoubtably better. I live in vancouver and SFU is for people who dont get into UBC. However, it is smaller and that does give some benefits. Prestige wise though, UBC all the way

yeah thats true kfc4u but look at all the other colleges...i dont know man...i feel like this decision is gonna haunt me for the rest of my life

what is your ultimate goal? your ultimate goal is to get into a prestigious law school in the states right?

so, what you'll need is a good GPA and LSAT score. when it comes to top law schools, you're going to need to get a good GPA from undergrad, especially because you're not coming from an elite undergrad institution in the USA. what i'm trying to say is that to be a competitive applicant, you're going to need to earn a good GPA at either UBC or SFU, but if your GPA were to be equal at both schools, UBC theoretically would get the boost because it is more well-known and respected and thus earning a good GPA there carries more weight than the same GPA from SFU.

if you're looking to get into law school, i wouldn't place so much emphasis onto better faculty or department or even undergrad major. the strategy is a good GPA, preferably from a good college, and high LSAT score. with that said, you'll have to find the balance of which college you'll enjoy more, because chances are, if you enjoy your college, you're going to do better in it.

thanks for the advice everyone especially kfc4u...you know how you got the info of the number of students from different schools...how do you get it for stanford?

it's a little more difficult to gauge representation at stanford law school because the class is much smaller than harvard's, but here's the info from their website. they did not publish numbers though:
