I am undecided and need to make a decision soon! I am planning to transfer for Fall 2013 but I can't decide on which school. I want to work with troubled/ at-risk youth ideally as an academic counselor. At UCI I would major in Social Ecology. At CSUF I would major in Human Services. Which program is better? Help PLEASE!!

Irvine is better school.

Go to Irvine if you can afford it.

I have never heard of “Social Ecology” and really have no idea what it means. “Human Services” could be just about anything. You have to do your homework on this issue before you can make an informed decision on which school to attend. You need to find out exactly what these two very vague sounding majors actually consist of and how closely each one matches your educational objectives.

It sounds like you are planning to go into a fairly specialized field that likely has specific training requirements and internships to succeed in this profession. You need to research the program at each school, possibly contact faculty at your target schools who teach courses in their programs and possibly try to set up meetings with people there who can really inform you as to which program best meets your needs.
