ok, now i narrowed it down to Dartmouth and UPenn.. i really can't decide between the two schools!! i'll be studying biology or economics or international relations (sorry for the varieties, i couldn't decide).. any input/info would be appreciated!!!!!

Are you choosing between Dartmouth and Wharton or Dartmouth and the college of arts and sciences at Penn? You will get a great education at either school if that is your desire?

What do you want or need in a college environment.

What quality of life issues that you feel need to be taken care of.

If money is an issue, definitely take a close look at your financial aid and the school's FA policy. If Penn is going to meet 100% of your demonstrated need at the same rate as Dartmouth, go to the next thing of importance.

Is a focus on undergrad education important to you?

Is study abroad mportant to you?

What are the opportunities available?

Do they have exchange programs with other schools? Which ones?

Are there intership opportunities?

when do they happen- are they reserved for upper classmen?

Opoortunities to do research?

when does it happen?

If work study is in your life?

What are the work study opportunities?

What do people do on the weekend?

Is everyone jumping into cars off to somewhere else?

Have you visited both places. do the current students seem happy being there.

Did you connect with any prospective students?

Do the prospies seem excited to attend in the fall?
Does it seem like a level of cohesiveness is already forming, because these will be the people that you will be spending the next 4 years with

Which environment do you best see your self in for the next 4 years?

wow, thanks sybbie!!

i'm choosing between college of arts and sciences at upenn and dartmouth..

do you know how dartmouth graduates do when it comes to getting jobs right after graduating from colleges? for financial reasons, i want to work after college, so any info regarding job placement would be helpful!!

i'm not sure if i'm right or not in saying that upenn is more of a pre-professional place while dartmouth is more of an academic, intellectual place than upenn.. can anyone confirm this, too?

that's true. At Penn, there are undergrads in nursing and business, while dartmouth is only liberal arts, with no preprofessional degrees (except maybe engineering).

As of 4/05

Finance/Financial Svcs. 4,170 14%
Health/Science 4,287 14%
Education 3,900 13%
Law 3,619 12%
Consulting 1,827 6%
Information & Technology 1,637 5%

A number of companies come to the school to hold information and recruitment sessions. These include:

Morgan Stanley
Deutsche Bank
Goldman Sachs
CSI Search Group
Bain & Company
JP Morgan
McKinsey & Company

The office of career services does provide extensive help in assiting students with lining up jobs after graduation.

i'd say upenn

i was accepted to dartmouth as well but as soon as i found out my acceptance to other schools, Dartmouth went off my list ...not that it's not a good school but the smallness of the environment

and i'm doing econ and IR or engineering
so i see our interests are alike ...and i picked penn
plus if u really get interested in business later on ...u can try to transfer into wharton

the fields u listed above are all very strong at penn...also at penn i will have more access for internships during the summer and school yr

hope that helps
one of day left so good luck

If you like the out door, a quiet learning environment and going fishing on the weekends :D (i love that), then Dartmouth is better than UPENN.

Otherwise, they are pretty much the same

I would tell you to go to Penn, b/c i applied to Dartmouth and i would really like to go, but since you are torn between those 2 schools, why not do me a favor and choose Penn?
And like i said, I like Dartmouth for the quiet surrounding and DOC and also some of my friends go there :D
Let me just thank you in advance :D

This is more likely to happen if you are a student at wharton not at the college of arts and sciences.

Econ and government are 2 of Dartmouth's most popular departments, both having study abroad program, econ's study abroad program at Bocconi University, in Milan, Italy, while government has study abroad programs in washington DC and london.

You will not be at a loss getting a banking internship if that is what you are looking for as students do have their pick. The great thing is the D-plan where you can do your internship and not be in competition with other schools trying to get a spot.

Above all it is about fit and where you see yourself for the next 4 years.

thanks everyone for helpful information!

how about biology program, or for that matter, sciences overall?
