I need help! What is the housing contract like at NYU? I can’t find anything on the website. Can you move out say after a few months of dorming? Or are you obligated to stay the entire year?

Also, do you know when they give you info about what dorm you’re in and all that? I’ve already payed the $1000 deposit and selected dorm preferences.

I would actually use the forum search for this one, because a lot of current freshman have answered these questions, and they’re much better at it than me. (I’ve only lived in Goddard, and that was over the summer.)

Uh, which school did you apply to? Unless it SPECIFICALLY STATED in the emails that you got into LSP, assume you got into the school you ORGINALLY APPLIED TO.

Hey, I got into Steinhardt, and do we have to write the ‘Writing the Essay’ thing too?
Also, how did you find your roommate? Did you do it through facebook or just have NYU randomly assign you one? And does NYU have a housing roommate quiz thing so it matches you up with a similar roommate to yourself?

^haha nice, always fastidious and loyal lol!

After finishing up this year, which dorm do you think has the most “parties” per say? Also I DJ, and I like to play at parties that me and a couple of friends sponsor. Would having larger(er) parties at Third North get me in trouble? It is apartment style right…

TBH, as long as you aren’t making a ton of noise and people aren’t throwing up in the hall, the RAs won’t bust you. It’s when you’re having parties at 4am and people are (obviously) underaged and drinking. Honestly, your best bet is to find someone with an apt off-campus if you choose to drink and party.

But yeah, in my unofficial hearsay opinion, it’d be Third North. Hayden seems to have that rep too, but this is all gossip. Like I’m sure you remember, I didn’t do freshman year here.

I updated this thread partially because I’m procrastinating on packing, lmao.

I know that summer staff is different than being an RA during the school year, but during training they told us that if you have to search it out and look for violations then don’t bother. As map said as long as you’re not overt with the music/drinking/etc you’re fine.

That being said, I also second going to apartment parties than hosting it in the dorm.

Do people who register for classes at earlier orientation sessions have priority registration over those who attend later sessions?
Also, AP scores come out after all but 1 of the sessions, so do you know if we can revise class registration after the scores come out? Right now I only have 16 credits, but I took 7 APs this year for which I have no doubt I could hit the 32 credit limit for.
