Any advice? Pros, cons?
Academic student who doesn’t drink and isn’t going to college for this social scene, not interested in Greek life but involved with volunteer groups and fly fishing.
Can’t speak to Clemson but I’m sure they have plenty of clubs/ volunteer opportunities (as most colleges do).
Wake has a strong service culture. It’s motto is Pro Humanitate and they live it in many forms. There are service organizations that exist to help the community. Most clubs (regardless of type) get involved in service work. The entire campus comes together for marquee service events (that are quite social). They consistently bring speakers to campus (leaders in their field) who present from the perspective of doing well by doing good. So not just how to be successful but how to make a difference, give back, etc. It’s a major emphasis of the university.
S is a non-Greek junior. No problem joining whatever clubs interest you. He does socialize and party but knows many who don’t. Not a problem for anyone.
In college I think you’ll find you can choose to be as social as you like. S is pretty social but has friends he only sees a few times per semester because they’re doing their thing (studying for MCATS, LSATS, research, etc.)
Both great schools.
