Okay so I’m Indian. I just gave my SAT yesterday (December 5, 2015). I was wondering what could be my chances of being red flagged by CollegeBoard? :-S
I got a very low score (1580) on my first attempt in June, when the SAT had a 5 minute screw up.
Since then, I’ve worked really hard and would average out at 2050 on all of my practice tests. (I’ve solved atleast 25 of them)
I’ve heard that CollegeBoard flags you if you have a significant score increase by 400-500 points.
My December SAT was way better than my June SAT and so I expect a score in the range of 1900 - 2000.
Could I be red flagged? Freaking out! Haven’t slept! Please help!
You might be, but even if so, your score will probably be verified and released to you after a delay (assuming you didn’t cheat at all).
Quite likely, but only a delay, not cancellation.
Thank you so much! I would also like to know
Is it really common among Indian Students? and what if they think I’ve cheated? of course I haven’t, but what if they do?
@anotherindian12 Unfortunately, cheating is common among students in Asia. I’m sure that many student increase their score as much as or even more than you did considering the work ethic of some Indians. But the point is that if you really didn’t cheat, you have nothing to worry about…they will probably just confirm if your test score is valid and you’ll have your score in no time. And congrats on your amazing improvement!
In general, I agree with your faith in the system, and I’ve seen it work that way many, many times. But there is one exception: If cheating is discovered at your test center, then even if you didn’t cheat you may lose your score because of a suspiciously large increase. I’ve seen that happen, and it’s a truly heartbreaking way for a hard-working teenager to learn how unfair life can be.
I went from a 1540 on January 2015 to 2000 on October. Nothing happened. Got my scores with everyone else.
