Help What Are Some Good Government/politics/foreign Policy/business Summer Programs??

I can only find links to math/science summer programs here on CC and I am specifically looking for a residential program for high schoolers in the summer for the topics listed above. What kind of summer programs are you guys applying to if you're not the math/science type???:)

Gracias por adelantado a cualquieres individuos o muchachas que den consejo o sugerencias.

There's some programs at Stanford that I know of.....other campuses too, I think it's for the National Youth Leadership Conference or something. Check it out, but it might be too late to sign up. It's all government/business/law related. I wanted to do it but it's a bit expensive.

I hear McDonald's has a great summer business program, but I don't know firsthand. I got waitlisted.

JSA is definitely one option but it's rather expensive so I want to consider other possibilities.

i got mail for that one too - forgot to mention it. what about doing an internship or something? you might even GET paid.

B
U
M
P

Congressional paige, JSA... I think Cornell has something, and Georgetown might have one too.

GASP IT'S TASP. :] Sorry, I just had to do it, evil. lol.

I don't know if you're into forensics because it's not one of the topics you mentioned, but if you are, this looks pretty interesting.

Forensics doesn't seem to fit into the government/politics/business/foreign policy category. :p

No it doesn't, but the vast majority of people that I know who do like things in that category are at least mildly interested in forensics (then again, I'm being slightly stereotypical). Plus, the program is pretty good from what I've heard. :]

Hm, I've had a couple of friends attend this program. It is very helpful and worth the money. At least that's what I heard from a couple of friends.

what about business programs?

Probably an internship would be best.

Summer business programs:
<a href="http://www.wharton.upenn.edu/academics/summer/%5B/url%5D">http://www.wharton.upenn.edu/academics/summer/</a></p>

Some, if not all, of the deadlines may have passed, but you can go check. I know that LBW is the arguably the best business program (though it costs A LOT and the deadline has already passed).

Georgetown Summer Program in International Relations. I think it's a 10 day residential. Search Georgetown Summer International Relations and you should find it.

JKCP which administers LBW also has an Internship program with business placement in the Phlly Area.

University of Richmond has a summer program dealling with Homeland Security. The top student gets to be head of FEMA (just kidding)

The University of Texas has an interesting program in Conflict Mediation
(something unique) through the dept. of Communications. Its a one week residential program in Austin, TX. Deadline is May 1. When I looked at the description, I thought it waould be great for someone going into government or business because it teaches you to listen and negotiate.

chillaxin... you stole my gasping at tasp..

The UT program is called "Global Ethics and Conflict Resolution"
<a href="http://www.utpcr.org%5B/url%5D">www.utpcr.org</a></p>

Yeah, I definitely know about that program since I'm on the school's forensic team as luck might have it, but it's too expensive. In fact, I think that I might just end up going to debate camp if my first-choice summer camp(TASP) doesn't go through. Even the deadline for the Georgetown camps save JSA have already passed...

Thanks for the suggestion anyway chillaxin, or should I say Yuxin?;)

It's too late to sign up for most of them...

I did global politics with UMiami's (Florida) Summer Scholar program. The two professors there are AMAZING and some of the nicest and most knowledgable people you'd ever find.

Umm... not really foreign policy, but it's foreign.

You could go to the Concordia Language Villages :)
