HELP!!! What do "Assured" and "Projected" support mean in the FA application?

Please help me!!! Even if you are not an international student or an international parent, please take a look at this!

In the International Financial Aid application, what does it mean by "assured" support and "projected" support for the Year 2012-2013? I need financial aid to go to Rice, yet my family can afford the full cost of the first year. So in my case, do the "assured" and "projected" support for Year 2012-2013 add to $52,000? But I'm worried they won't give me any financial aid if I can pay for the first year myself...(If I average the yearly family contribution over the four years, it will be around $32,000, so do the "assured" and "projected" support add up to $32,000?)

Any comments are greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks!!!

They will take a look at your financial statements, so they know how much you can and cannot afford. I would contact Rice and discuss your options, they will be able to give you a better answer.

But do I have to send this form back by Jan. 1st? And right now I bet Rice admissions are on the Christmas break…

I believe so. You could fill it out to the bets of your ability and then call them for further clarification/changes when they return.
