International Student looking for F.A.

How much harder is it for an intl student looking for financial aid to get into Rice? From what I have heard, its not too bad for Rice because it is looking for more intl students in general, but the FA part is somewhat worrisome.

very hard to get, considering the financial problems many shcools right now facing

Lol, Rice isn't facing "financial problems." A $4.7 billion endowment distributed across only about 3,000 undergrads probably makes his chances of getting FA at Rice far, far better than at any another school.

However, isn't that endowment only for residents/citizens?

Rice has some scholarships specifically for internationals...I think they're either half or full tuition. Google it.

I'm aware of those merit aid scholarships. However, I meant specifically financial aid, and how requesting it would affect my chances of getting accepted.

Good luck getting anything, I'm not international and I didn't manage to get a cent.

Are there any intls that can help me with application for aid?
Rice says that they require three forms, the International student finaid application, the international student certification of finances guidelines and the Rice International student financial statement. Firstly,he last of those forms asks how I will support all 45,000$ of the cost for Rice but doesn't give me an option to list financial aid (provided I could get any). However, I'm afraid that if I were to list that my family could provide all that money (since I will not be obtaining any scholarships or loans), there's no need for Rice to provide any aid. Could anyone clarify how that section of the form works?

Secondly, are the other two collegeboard forms online by any chance like the css profile?

all forms can downloaded from rice website..and you may found more info by see the freshmen instructions....

i think, anybody can correct me if i'm wrong, an international student who do not request financial aid may have a MUCH greater chance of getting in, because schools like diversity AND you are not at the economic burden of the school...

BUT if i am an international, i'd always apply for finaid and look for scholarships, i wouldn't get into a school where money was the deciding factor, not my own qualities..i don't think i would be happy that way even if i get in.
