Thank you for reading this, i got into UCLA with Pre-Economics major, but i applied for Economics, so question
1 is what is Pre-econ,
2. why was i admitted as pre-econ when i applied for Econ?
3. can i switch to Biz-econ?

I'm going to start off with a disclaimer that I'm not in any way related to this field BUT, I would assume that your pre-economics major means that its one of those majors where you have to apply to get into in your junior year... I think they do this because econ is a pretty popular major so they want to weed out as many people as possible with lower division courses before granting major-status to them...

^yep.

any pre-major means that you're not admitted into the major, you're just admitted as a general student. after completing coursework, you apply (when depends on the department) and they decide whether or not to admit you into the major.

this means that yes, you can still get into bus econ, but you need to have the grades and the coursework to get into bus econ.

don't get all stressed about the "pre".
i'm pre-psych: all it means is that i INTEND to be a psych major, and unless i change my mind, i'll apply at the end of sophomore year and be reclassified as psych.
there are plenty of pre-major majors, if you catch my drift xD

you also might be thinking, what's the point of being declared as a PRE-major? if i'm still just a regular student? one answer is that some majors (like psych) limit certain classes to their premajors to make sure they can get all the pre-major class requirements filled. being a pre-major is just one additional step to getting into a more competitive major like econ.

To get into biz-econ, you will need to complete all the prerequisite classes with a minimum GPA of 3.3. That's basically it, nothing else to it. Econ1, 2, 11, 41, 101; writing II; math 31A and 31B; and management 1A and 1B. You should be able to apply for the major by the end of your second year at the latest.
