Help? Will I make it?

I'm not sure what other schools to apply to or if I can even get into my choice of schools. My overall weighted GPA is a 3.1, unweighted it's a 2.8. My freshman year I took all honors. Sophomore year was similar except I didn't take regional studies honors due to scheduling, and math honors. Junior year I had two APs, and all honors with the exception of math. My ACT combined was a 25 and my SAT math was 470, reading was 630, and writing was a 675. I'm hoping my other stats will help balance out my GPA, as well as the fact I attended a private school. I've also won community service awards and have had some of my writings published. With all of these aspects I'm wondering if I have a chance of being accepted to my dream school, Bennington. Some of the others schools I'm looking at have a GPA range of 3.2-3.8. I understand the ones with a 3.8 range are extreme reach schools. What types of schools would I be accepted into?

How did you get a 675 on the writing section of the SAT? Was that a typo- and if so, what was your actual score?

You sound like you have pretty good extracurriculars, so you definitely have a chance. Having said that, based on what I’m reading online about Bennington, your GPA and math SAT would be quite a bit below average, your CR and ACT would be a bit below average, and your Writing would be a bit above average (assuming you got a 670/680 which I’m assuming you meant). I don’t really know about the admissions process for the school, but based on your stats, I think that you are going to have to make sure your essays are really outstanding if you want to have a good shot. You seem to have a gift for writing (since you got writings published), so hopefully this won’t be a huge problem.

Good luck :)
