Help with an SAT essay prompt

I'm tutoring someone, and I'm trying to tell her the strategy of pre-memorizing generic examples that can be used in template-based, formula writing for the SAT essay.

What are some good examples that can be used for this prompt?

Can the daily actions of average people have a significant impact on the course of history? Plan and write an essay in which you develop your point of view on this issue. Support your position with reasoning and examples taken from your readings, studies, experiences, or observations?

Also, is there a place to find generic quotes that can be used as good intro hooks?

Please share any insight or examples =)

well "average" people can be defined as anyone because it'll depend on a person's perspective. One example I can think of are the "average" men and women that aided in the Civil War. They changed history.

Here are some examples that i can think of...

Mao Zedong of China: He was an average person who changed the course of Chinese history by rearranging the government, kicking out Westerns (and re-nationalizing China), and just helping China... You can write about how he controlled China by taking control of the peasant population (regular people)

Toussaint and Haiti... he was a slave that led the regular normal slave people to freedom...

Or another could be Joan of Arc. Just a regular random girl who takes control of the French army and leads them to victory... changes France completely
