Ok, so I want to apply Early Action to all of my schools which means the deadline would be December 1st. But I live in the Tri-State Area which was affected by the lovely Hurricane Sandy (can you sense my sarcasm?) making my original SAT date of November 3rd be canceled and rescheduled onto a day which I wasn't even in the state, I think the 17th. I then had to reschedule my SAT date to December 1st since that was the only other option (they wouldn't refund me). Does this mean I'm not gonna be able to apply by December 1st, or should I just write an email to all of the colleges admissions teams explaining the situation and then send out my score along with my previous score marked by the test? Please, please help; I'm desperate and not even my guidance counselor will really help me.

Don’t know which colleges you are talking about that have early action application deadlines of Dec 1. You really need to check with each one. For example if it is a school that releases EA decisions in late Jan then it may accept your Dec test. However, if it is one that issues decisions before Jan 1, then likely not.

Most schools are pretty receptive and will work with you (except for the ACT test services themselves…most unhelpful). Yes, contact admissions (and if you can find out the name of the admissions counselor from your state better yet…he or she will be very well aware, many others in the same situation)…even if you are not accepted and the scores improve may push you onto or off the waitlist. At best you will get a second look, that can go in your favor. Have you already submitted some scores? Most EA colleges prestorm said they would accept later scores as long as they had something before (which meets the EA deadline).
