Help with EC's

Hey, I am currently a junior at my school here in Atlanta, Georgia and I need some help in choosing some extracurricular activities. I have been involved in basketball for all my life except this year because I have just moved here from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.
Here are the extracurriculars I have already:
National Honor Society
Key Club

and thats about it. I need to find a way to get some leadership roles for the college app.

I also plan to create a Pre-Medical club at my school that will become active my senior year. Any suggestions?

And what will this "Pre-med" club do?
Compete with each other while being blindly superambitious?

haha, no, I am trying to look for a national organization actually. I saw a thread earlier that stated they were making Future Physicians of America or something. But that was out west in California.

See how your student government is set up. I understand you might not be very well-known since you just switched schools, but look for leadership positions that might rely on an interview versus an election.

For example, I am student council treasurer. I was chosen based off an interview and review of my test scores, GPA, resume, etc. I didn't have to depend on "popularity" to land me a leadership position.

If you're good at math or communications/public speaking I would highly recommend FBLA (nationals are in Atlanta this year!!). There are speaking competitions, individual tests, group tests, public speaking, ethical competitions etc. And you don't have to be an officer to compete at the regional and state-level. It would look VERY good to make it to nationals in FBLA. If your school doesn't have FBLA, look into DECA.

You could always get a job or volunteer, too. NHS is volunteerism, but it varies from school to school. Maybe volunteer at a hospital?

Good luck!

Do things you're interested in. If you like basketball, try joining the basketball team again. Or maybe petition to have an intramural program at your school ;) And yes, there's Future Physicians in America at my school (I'm from CA) and I think they have guest speakers or something so maybe that's something you could look into for your pre-med club.

Thanks very much for the input.
