i wrote it, but it's kind of story like is this right? will somebody look over it and see if i have the right idea?!

If by the extracurricular essay, you mean the short 1 paragraph essay for the common app, I just wrote about what got me involved in the activity and how I felt about the activity.

... If that helps.

A narrative-like essay has the potential to work, but I have the distinct feeling that is possible your passion for the activity and what got you involved/what you contributed could be masked under the 'story.'

^ Yea, but you don't have to keep using "I did this... I think that... I do that" again and again.
I mean, the admission people know that it's YOUR app...

That's where the technique of a good writer comes in, of course! :) You can portray an action or a thought without necessarily SAYING those words - and in relevance to the OP's post, yes, in a narrative - but it is important that these feelings do not get muffled under a plot.

It's an application essay - NOT a novel.

yeah i didnt want mine to say i did this i did that, so i made it a tad novely, but then woven in why i do it and love it at the end. i can't say im the most talented writer but i hope this is good. thank you for all the advice!

You're welcome! If it shows who you are and answers the question, I see no problem. Perhaps get a teacher to review it if you'd really like an unbiased opinion?
