Help with my College List!

I'm interested in LACs, and looking over my college list, I've been worrying about safeties. I'd appreciate advice on completing my list!

I'm interested in sociology and linguistics, as well as in schools with strong study abroad programs. I also need need-based financial aid, and I want to be in the northeast, but it's not an extremely strong preference.

Stats:
Female Asian American
SAT: 2240 superscore
GPA: 4.0 UW (2 APs soph yr, 5 junior yr, 5 next year- all 5's)
Decent (though not stellar) ECs

I've got these schools on my list for now:

Williams
Amherst
Dartmouth
Middlebury
Bryn Mawr
Vassar
Bowdoin
Macalester
Colby
Mount Holyoke

There are lots of wonderful LACs in the northeast that are great schools but a bit easier to get into. I know Dickinson College in PA has a great study abroad/language program as they pride themselves on a “global education” so that may be a fit. You should research other schools in this range such as (but definitely not limited to) Lafayette, Bucknell, Trinity, Connecticut College, Union, Frankin & Marshall, Skidmore and apply to a couple where you find the majors/program that appeal to you. You should have one or two safety schools on your list I think. You may get merit aid from some of these schools as well.

Muhlenberg College should be on your list
also (IMO) Haverford and Kalamazoo College

Thank you for the suggestions!

@zobroward - would the three colleges you suggested all be safeties?

Also, how should I determine my safeties? Would it be with SAT scores (in which case, around what range of SAT scores should I be looking for)??

Why need based? With your stats you could be looking at merit opportunities. Try Denison U, Earlham, Lewis and Clark.

What state are you in?

are merit opportunities scholarships for which I have to write more essays? I don’t really feel up to writing more essays than I absolutely must haha.

@barrk123, I’m in Washington state

Holy Cross(not far from Boston), Trinity.

University of Rochester has a Linguistics major

The colleges I mentioned above don’t require additional essays for merit scholarships.
