Help with my next year's plans?

I'm a rising senior, and next year I was planning on taking AP euro, studio art, comp sci, and calc AB. I'm going into engineering, and looking at the top schools, so I really really wanted the computer science background. Long story short, we've never had AP comp sci (or any programming) at my school, and the guy who was going to teach it is leaving next year. So I'm out of luck, can't learn computer science.

Should I take AP Bio instead? It's the only other AP science my school offers besides Physics B, and I've already taken that this year.

There's no way for me to learn computer science in school, and I'm totally clueless with no experience at all. Bio's really my only option for an AP science, no AP chem which I wanted to take

If you’re going to go into engineering, I suggest you try self-studying for AP Comp Sci and take the exam anyways. You can even start this summer. Getting familiar with programming would be great if you want to do engineering.

Have you thought about self-studying for AP Comp Sci? That’s what I am going to do. I’ve found a couple of sites that could help you with programming, they’re in a thread I created - http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/mathematics-computer-science/1506688-ap-comp-sci-self-study.html</a>. I found AP Biology to be a pretty interesting course. A lot of work, but generally interesting. Some parts of it seemed dull, at least for me (DNA regulation - driest material to learn ever despite being interesting) but it is worth the effort if you decide to take it.

I think I’m gonna self study AP Compsci. Wish me luck folks! Gonna buy PR and Barron’s on amazon and get started over the summer. Any other books you would suggest getting besides PR and Barron’s? Maybe general coding textbooks or something?

Hey you should join my AP Computer Science study group which is going to be self-studying by using the SEE program from Stanford. We are going to be going through the course together. check out my thread “AP Computer Science Study Group”

Hey guys I also have a question. Im a rising senior from Northern VA looking to apply to very competitive schools like UVA and UPenn. I am currently signed up for 4 AP classes, one of which is AP spanish. My question is, how impressive/important is it to go all the way to an AP for a foreign language? I am debating whether to take AP econ instead, because I am not very confident in my spanish abilities and I will most likely become some type of business major in college. Any responses would be really appreciated!!!

At JTG4321… Both Econ and Spanish are important, well depends on your GE requirements for college. You’ll feel your Spanish ability multiplied by tons by reading actual print material / listening to actual speakers and the radio. (Focusing on the parts that you do not understand and figuring out what they mean) As well as preventing yourself from using English–forcing you to learn the necessary phrases, words, and grammar.
